International Polypeptide Therapy Forum opened

The 1st International Interdisciplinary Forum "Polypeptide Therapy: New Opportunities for Russia" was held as part of the online programme of Russian Health Care Week 2020. It was organised by the Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technologies Development, the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, and supported by EXPOCENTRE.

The scientific programme of the Forum covers a wide range of issues on the clinical application of polypeptides. The sections of the Forum presented the results of polypeptide therapy in the practice of the dermatologist, plastic surgeon, gastroenterologist, geriatrician, immunologist, gynecologist, fertility specialist as well as data from clinical observations on the correction of hyperferritinemia in comprehensive therapy and rehabilitation programmes for patients with COVID-19.

One of the moderators of the Forum, Andrey Ilnitsky, Head of the Department of Therapy, Geriatrics and Anti-Aging Medicine of the Institute of Professional Development of the Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency, expressed the hope that the Forum participants would not only acquire new theoretical knowledge, but would be able to apply it in their clinical practice.

Ekaterina Dibrova, President of the Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technologies Development, member of the organising committee of the Forum, noted that the Forum continues the traditions of Academician Filatov's scientific school and expands the boundaries of modern understanding of polypeptide therapy in the 21st century.

Galina Karelova, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Tatiana Moskalkova, Human Rights Commissioner of the Russian Federation, Natalia Manturova, Head of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Cosmetology and Cellular Technologies Department of the Pirogov Russian State Medical University, and other prominent medical specialists addressed the Forum participants with welcoming speeches.

The plenary session 'Polypeptide Therapy as a Trend in Biomedicine' was opened by Alexander Dyguy, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Medical and Biological Sciences Section of the Department of Medical Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Alexander Chuchalin, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Department of Hospital Therapy of the Pediatric Faculty of the Pirogov Russian Medical University, spoke on "New Human Infectious Diseases". Pyotr Timashev, Director of the Scientific and Technological Park of Biomedicine of the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, concluded the plenary session.

In the second part of the forum, specialists shared their experience in the field of polypeptide therapy.

In addition to the presentations, Forum participants had the opportunity to visit an online 3D exhibition of the event's partner.
