On December 7 Expocentre Fairgrounds hosted an official opening of The Russian Health Care Week’2009, Russia’s major international forum in the field of health care and social development. The event covers a wide range of health and social care issues, and provides a showcase of medical products and services. The forum contributes enormously to carrying out the national priority programmes Health Care and The Concept of Health Care System Development by 2020.
This large-scale industry forum includes such co-locating events as Zdravookhraneniye’2009, the 19th International Exhibition; Apteka’2009, the 16th International Exhibition; Healthy Life-Style’2009, the 3rd International Exhibition; WINTER SUN GALLERY’2009, the 3rd International Exhibition; Stomatology’2009, the 11th Annual Scientific Forum; Sportmed’2009, the 4th International Scientific Conference; and the International Medical and Pharmaceutical Business Forum.
Expocentre’s Deputy General Director Mikhail Tolkachev noted that the Russian Health Care Week’2009 had brought together over 1, 000 participating companies from 40 countries. The total stand space occupied was 45, 000 sqm net. China, Czechia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, and Malaysia arranged their national pavilions. The event was held with support and assistance from the Russian Ministry of Health Care and Social Development, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy, the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation; under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Moscow Government.
In her welcome address Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Svetlana Orlova said that holding the Zdravookhraneniye Exhibition as part of the Russian Health Care Week encouraged promotion of global cutting-edge developments to medical practices in Russia. The professionally organized forum and exhibition became efficient components of the national priority project.
Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Health Protection Sergey Kolesnikov pointed out that the Russian Health Care Week provided a unique opportunity to narrow the gap between scientific and practical medicine. He underlined that Russia’s Government expressed their concern about the state of the national health care system. They were certain it was necessary to establish special agencies and elaborate strategies to develop and perfect the country’s health care system.
‘The recent tragic events have shown that health care shall be responsive to very diverse needs’, noted Vice-President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergei Katyrin, ‘and Zdravookhraneniye’2009 highlights modern resources in this area.’ In the opinion of Mr. Katyrin the exhibition helped to look to the future of the Russian health care system and to find responses to many challenges facing this sector. The events on the programme of the Russian Health Care Week cover issues relating to the health care legislation and many other questions important for manufacturers, researchers, developers and for the public.
On behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation the participants in the Russian Health Care Week were welcomed by Sergei Logachyov, Head of the Medical Industry Department under the Department of Chemical and Bio-engineering Technologies of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. He underlined that this event was gaining prominence and demonstrated the competitiveness of the domestic medical industry; while Zdravookhraneniye’2009, incorporated into the Russian Health Care Week, provided an opportunity to analyze the state of the Russian health care system. He also noted that the exhibition activity became an important tool for great and socially important work aimed at developing the Russian health care system.
The Russian Health Care Week’2009 is a platform for meetings and discussions, which have already been taking place at the conferences, round tables, symposia and other events on the programme. ‘The Week enables to join the efforts of researchers, manufacturers and consumers of medical goods and services to cope with the tasks set within the health care development strategy’, said Yury Kalinin, President of the Russian Union of the Medical Industry Associations.
‘Zdravookhraneniye traditionally closes the year and becomes a focal industry event showcasing achievements and prospects of the medical industry and health care system - the sectors of great state importance that along with other strategic industries ensure Russia’s security and independence’, underlinded Yury Belenkov, Vice-Chancellor of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University.
The Russian Health Care Week’2009 is open till 11 December 2009. Its exposition is located in Pavilions Nos. 1, 2, 8 and the Forum of Expocentre Fairgrounds.
